WELCOME VOCAL ENTHUSIASTS OF ALL AGES! If you’re interested in studying with an experienced professional performer and educator, look no further than Jongleur Vocal Performance classes. We are always happy to make time for enthusiastic, interested, and devoted students, be they beginners or seasoned pros. Our secret to success: Every student is taught based on their individual skills and goals, by a music teacher who truly wants to help them succeed!
Since 1970 Jongleur faculty have provided a range of services toward the creation of professional vocalists including: voice private study, small group classes with consultation, vocal music workshops, choral classes, and music career management services. Jongleur has helped countless singers of all ages to become better musicians and to get more enjoyment from performing vocal music. Several of Jongleur vocal students have gone on to rewarding careers as touring and recording musicians. Jongleur teachers and facilitators have the passion and interest to provide quality support to each student. Recitals are usually assembled at the end of each term.
PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN
Jongleur provides a full, ongoing vocal program for children in vocal technique and vocal performance training, choral singing, as well as training on piano and guitar!
What does the program entail?
Jongleur Vocal Performance program has a focus of creating vocal musicians who perform under the supervision of an experienced professional performer and educator. Our motto is “Sing for the Passion of Singing!” Jongleur also focuses on vocal empowerment development through voice technique, performance and music literacy.
Who is the program intended for?
Jongleur Vocal Performance program is well suited to a wide range of students from 10+ with classes that are organized depending on age and skill. This is a comprehensive program, so instead of aiming at concert vocalists and pianists (who specialize in performing other people’s music), our program, with the support of MusIQ Club produces well-rounded vocal musicians who have developed enough interest and skill to be creative with music.
What are the features of the program?
Specifically, this program has two components: Voice Technique and Musical Literacy:
*Voice Technique
The Jongleur Voice class component is designed to develop a significant level of vocal technique and vocal health knowledge under the supervision of an experienced professional performer and educator. Basic goals of Jongleur voice classes are: improving natural vocal sound, resonance, projection, tone quality, vocal flexibility, overall phonation, and stage presence along with sight reading, and ear training at the keyboard – skills to last a lifetime. Jongleur has helped countless singers of all ages to become better musicians and to get more enjoyment from performing vocal music. Several of Jongleur vocal students have gone on to rewarding careers as touring and recording musicians. Jongleur teachers and facilitators have the passion and interest to provide quality support to each student. Recitals are usually assembled at the end of each term.
*Music Literacy
Jongleur Music Literacy component is provided through Adventus MusIQ Club. This new and exciting addition to Jongleur provides a new way to develop a significant level of musical skills and knowledge in the context of a very positive social experience while developing vocal performance technique. Adventus MusIQ Club was developed by a Canadian music software publisher and the teaching approach which includes the use of award-winning interactive tools is currently being used in music schools, public schools and private schools across US, Canada, UK and was recently introduced to schools in India and South Korea. At Jongleur MusIQ Club focuses on piano literacy and consists of about 1/3 traditional activities, 1/3 interactive, and 1/3 ensemble or solo performance. The level of engagement of students is very high, and the interactive practice tools used at home for the MusIQ Club are easy and fun to use, so progress is pretty reliable. Piano was selected for the MusIQ Club classes at jongleur because it’s very accessible at any age and a good choice for developing fluent music reading.
Why should a student have the MusIQ Club as part of their vocal education at Jongleur?
The MusIQ portion of instruction now being offered at Jongler provides a music supplement to the vocal instruction through musical educational technology to enhance ear training and sight reading, social interaction, and music repertoire.
What are the sizes of MusIQ Club classes?
At Jongleur the maximum sizes of MusIQ Club classes are 5-7 participants for ½ hour sessions.
Do students have to take MusIQ Club classes at Jongleur?
The social interaction design of Jongleur provides important educational elements to enhance leadership and social skill building. MusIQ Club offered at Jongleur is aimed at combining education in a small but friendly environment where a social interaction can occur. While the home study portion of MusIQ is certainly self-directed, it is only through the group sessions that a learner will receive the feedback and ongoing support to increase their education during this period. Together these two components ensure educational quality for the vocal learner – skills to last a lifetime!!
Can students enroll for less than 10 week term at Jongleur?
Jongleur encourages a complete program for the benefit of building voices, and shaping positive performance outcomes in the recitals at the end of the term. Jongleur provides an outcome driven program aimed at the serious performer who might be preparing for level examinations (i.e. RCM), or college entrance auditions, as well as the young hobbyist who is inspired to sing based on the popularity of reality TV shows i.e. X Factor, Sing Out, Canadian Idol as well as the popular Glee movement. Students are able to sign up for one-time sessions, and sessions of shorter periods after completion of a first time Voice class which will include an assessment in consultation with faculty.

*Small group SINGING classes for Children available! Pop, Music Theatre, Jazz, Gospel, Classical, Folk, World repertoire – offered at a cost of $25 and up per week, 10 week term w recital, (ages10+) based on age & vocal experience level; 45 minute sessions available (No audition is required; placement made at first session.)
__$25 class (45 minutes) plus $10 club for 10 week term=$350 Limited enrollment!

__$35 class (1 hour) plus $10 club for 10 week term=$450 Limited enrollment!
*DOO WOP SHOW CHOIRS! A Capella Choirs for Children available! Pop, Jazz, Gospel, Folk, Music Theatre, World repertoire, combining movement & staging – offered at a cost of $15 per week, 10 week term w recital (ages 10+), 1 hour duration (No audition is required; placement made at first session.)
__$15 choir session (1 hour) plus $10 club for 10 week term=$250 Limited enrollment!
*SINGING FACTORY – Private Voice Classes for Children available! Classical, Folk, Pop, Music Theatre, Jazz, World repertoire – offered at a cost of $25 and up per week, 10 week term w recital (ages10+) based on age & vocal experience level; ½ hour, 45 minute sessions available (No audition is required; placement made at first session.)

Can students study other instruments at Jongleur?
*While Jongleur is a vocal performance school, Jongleur’s team of talented faculty also provide instruction in piano and guitar upon request and in consultation with faculty.
